When you insert a link you can either type text or highlight it, before you click this button, or you can click the button directly. In both cases, a window will open allowing you to choose settings for your links.

The window contains three tabs, however, we will only look closer at one of these tabs, i.e. 'Information about link'. On the tab 'Information about link', you must first choose the link type:

  • Internet address  a link to another site on the internet.
  • Hyperlink to bookmark in text  Also known as 'anchorlink', a link that takes you to a specific place on the page where you have created a 'bookmark'.
  • E-mail  A link that opens a mail form in the user's e-mail program.

NOTE: To insert bookmarks you will first have to create them by using the flag to the left (item 12 in the illustration above). You can read more about this under item 12.

Insert link for an internet address

If you choose the link type 'internet address', you will have the choice of entering a 'Protocol' and the 'internet address' itself. As long as this concerns websites, the protocol should be left unchanged as 'https://'. You then insert the link in the field 'internet address'.

Then click on 'OK'.

Insert link for an e-mail

If you choose the link type 'E-mail', you will have the choice of creating a link which will open the user's mail program and start a draft for a new mail for the entered e-mail address. Here you have the possibility of writing the name of a topic to be included in the mail, as well as the body text content.

The user will however always have the option to edit this before sending the mail via the mail program.

Then click on 'OK'.

2.   Table

To create a table, you can use the table button. This opens a window with two tabs. Here we use the first tab as a point of reference as this tab includes all the basic information for a table.

On the tab 'Table Properties', you have the option of choosing:

  • Rows  the number of horizontal rows with fields.
  • Columns  the number of vertical rows with fields.
  • Width  determines how wide the visible table will be (indicated in pixels, does not need to be indicated).
  • Height  determines how wide the table view will be (indicated in pixels, does not need to be indicated).
  • Headings  determines the position of headings. Can either be the first row, the first column or both.
  • Alignment  determines whether the content of the cells is aligned in the middle, aligned to the right or aligned to the left.
  • Cell spacing  determines the space between the cells/fields (indicated in pixels, does not need to be indicated).
  • Cell padding  determines the distance between the cell border and the cell content (indicated in pixels, does not need to be indicated).
  • Border width  determines how wide the border around the table will be (indicated in pixels, does not need to be indicated).
  • Title  the indicated title will be centred above the table (does not need to be indicated).

The last field 'Summary' is a field that is only visible for screen readers. This field is only intended for students who are visually impaired and use screen readers to read web pages.

The information you enter in this field will therefore be read out aloud to the student before the information in the table.

Then click on 'OK'.

Also, we have highly limited authorizations regarding coding in itslearning, and there are therefore many tags etc. that will not work. We therefore recommend that you use the other functions in the Editor.

Opens the itslearning help guide for the user's Editor. Their guide is however quite limited and the present one is more elaborate.
